A unique joint Msc at the worldwide scale! - 1 joint MSc programme, 5 degree-awarding universitites + 36 worldwide partners: EuroAquae is a unique joint MSc programme offered by 5 European Universities: Université Côte d'Azur (France), Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (Germany), Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), Technical University of Catalonia (Spain), and Newcastle University (United Kingdom).

The 5 universities award the joint degree «Master of Sciences in HydroInformatics & Water Management» recognized by each participating country. Every successful participant will thus graduate simultaneously from 5 European universities!

Selection Process - The selection of candidates is conducted by the EuroAquae Consortium Management Board in line with the Erasmus+ regulations as well as each participating country national rules, excellence of candidates, motivation and professional objectives according to the specializations of the Master.

Admission Criteria - Minimum qualification is 2nd class degree from university (BSc) or its equivalent. Preferred first degree subjects are Engineering (any branch), Environmental Sciences, Physics, Computer Sciences, Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology or a similar subject. Advanced level Mathematics is required. All modules are taught and examined in English and all locations and IELTS score of minimum 6.5 (or TOEFL IBTof minimum 90) is required. The study of a European language among the ones of the awarding universities (German, French, Spanish and/or Hungarian) is encouraged. Evaluation of the level of scientific and engineering knowledge, as well as the level of English, is carried out by the EuroAquae consortium.

•  The tuition fees for Partner Country participants (non-EU nationals) will be EUR 18,000 (EUR 4,500 per semester).

•  The tuition fees for Programme Country participants (EU nationals) will be EUR 9,000 (EUR 2,250 per semester).

•  The programme is also open to candidates who do not request financial support through Erasmus Mundus programme.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships - The Erasmus Mundus program is a co-operation and mobility programme. It aims to enhance quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world. The Erasmus Mundus program supports high-quality European Masters Courses, by providing attractive grants for students from around the world.

There are two types of scholarships depending on students’ nationality:

1.  The Erasmus+ “Programme countries” scholarships for students from:

   • Member States of the European Union (EU): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

   • Non EU Programme Countries: former Yugoslav, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Republic of Macedonia, Turkey

   • Students with a Partner Country nationality who are residents or have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in a Programme Country will be considered under this category (as a Programme Country student). The five-year reference period for this “12-month rule” is calculated backwards as from the submission deadline (January 31st) of applying for the Erasmus Mundus student scholarship.

   • Students with a double nationality (of a Partner and of a Programme Country) must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application.

2. The Erasmus+ “Partner countries” scholarships for students from:

   • all the other countries

   • Except for students with a Partner Country nationality who are residents or have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in a Programme Country (see the “12-month rule” explained above).

   • Students with a double nationality (of a Partner and of a Programme Country) must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application.

Moreover, specific “geographical windows” scholarships for applicants of specific countries are expected to be opened as for the new intake:

• • Asia (Region 6 (i,iv)): Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, DPR Korea, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam

  • Central Asia (Region 7 (i, iv)): Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan

  • Latin America (Region 8 (i, v)): Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatema- la, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela

  • Region 9 (i): Iran, Iraq, Yemen

  • Region 10 (i): South Africa

  • African, Caribbean and Pacific region (Region 11 (ii)): Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Cape Verde, Comoros, Bahamas, Barbados, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Cook Islands, Côte d’Ivoire,Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Republic of Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Mauritius, Micronesia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Niger, Nigeria, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Swaziland, Tanzania, East Timor, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe

  • Industrialised Gulf countries (Region 12 (iii)): Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates

  • Other industrialised countries (Region 13 (iii)): Australia, Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, (Republic of) Korea, Macao, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, United States of America. 

(i): Development and Cooperation Instrument (DCI); (ii): European Development Fund (EDF); (iii): Partnership Instrument (PI); (iv) Students from Asia should come as a priority from less developed countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam), but can come from other countries of the regions as well, except from China and India; (v) For Latin America at least 25% of the students must come from Lower Middle Income Countries (Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Paraguay), a maximum of 35 % of students from Brazil and Mexico together, and 40% should come from the following countries (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela).

The scholarships are composed as following:

Students fulfilling the eligibility criteria for both type of scholarships – e.g. students with a double nationality – must select the Category of their choice. They are entitled to apply only to one of the two categories of scholarship at a time. According to the European Commission rules, students shall not apply to more than three Erasmus Mundus Masters courses at the same call. Students benefiting from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship cannot benefit from another EU grant while pursuing their Erasmus Mundus masters studies.

Without prejudice to high academic standards, in order to ensure geographical diversity among students, no more than two of the students selected for a scholarship should have the same nationality.

Extra Scholarships, Financial Support & Grants - Other than the Erasmus Mundus scholarship of the European Commission, several other funding possibilities are made available by the EuroAquae Consortium for prospective participants:

1.  EuroAquae Grants: Directly funded by the EuroAquae+ Consortium to ensure that all students with outstanding academic background have the chance to join the Joint MSc Programme. These grants are used as tuition fee-waivers and are awarded to best-ranked applicants in the reserve list during the selection committee. Same selection criteria used to assess application to the programme itself are therefore used. These criteria are based on the overall academic achievements and motivation of the applicants :

   • 20 grants of EUR 12,000 for Programme Country participants (EU-citizens) per intake and for 2 years

   • 15 grants of EUR 5,000 for Partner Country participants (non-EU citizens) per intake and for 2 years.

2.  Eiffel Scholarship: a very competitive merit-based grant allowing students to fully finance their master degree (24 months) with financial contribution by Campus France.

3.  Bourses CROUS: Annually allocated by the Centre Régional des Œuvres Universitaires et Scolaires on merit and financial basis criteria. The grant may consist of a waiver of registration fees up to EUR 600 per month per academic year. Applications must be submitted to the CROUS every year in April.

4.  Bourses d’Excellence PRAME: Annually allocated by the local government of the PACA Region (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) in France and directly managed by the International Office of the Coordinating HEI. This grant sponsors European and international mobilities for study and internship of students enrolled at the Coordinating HEI who may receive a financial support of EUR 300/month for a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 5 months.

5.  Erasmus+ Etudes: Allocated by the Erasmus+ study mobility programme within the EU for a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 12 months and with a financial support of EUR 150 to 200 EUR per month depending on the country of mobility.

6.  Erasmus Student Mobility Placement program (Polytech 13): Polytech Nice Sophia is coordinating the Polytech 13 project under Erasmus placement for the 13 Polytech schools located in France. Every year students enrolled at Polytech Nice Sophia may receive a financial support of EUR 350 per month for a maximum of 6 months to support the mobility of students who are going for an internship within the EU.

7.  Master Thesis allowance: Internships during Semester 4 are generally paid. The Associated Partners (industrial and institutional partners) where students carry out Semester 4 mostly offer internships that provide substantial allowance packages (covering travel as well as board and lodging expenses) and up to EUR 1,200 per month.
